International Women's Day is a very significant day in the calendar and The Workplace, together with Dress for Success Sydney, would like to invite you to join us for lunch to celebrate the occasion at 12 Micron Barangaroo on Friday, 6 March 2020.
Joining us is a panel of very special guests who promise a lively conversation about the importance of equality and empowering women to achieve economic independence - which is the mission of Dress for Success, the recipient of all profit generated from the event.
The event will be sponsored by Xplore and Cannings Strategic Communications with all profits going to Dress for Success Sydney.

Tanya Plibersek MP - Shadow minister for Education and Training and Member for Sydney
Tanya Plibersek is the Shadow Minister for Education and Training and Federal Member for Sydney.
During the 45th Parliament, Tanya held the position of Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Deputy Leader of the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party.
Tanya was previously the Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development in the 44th Parliament. In government, Tanya was Minister for Health. Her other ministerial appointments have included Minister for Medical Research, Minister for Social Inclusion, Minister for Human Services, Minister for the Status of Women, and Minister for Housing.
Tanya grew up in the Sutherland Shire of Sydney and is the daughter of migrants from Slovenia. Like many newly arrived migrants, Tanya’s parents helped build the country in which they made their new home. Her father worked on the Snowy River hydroelectric scheme in the 1950s.
Tanya holds a BA Communications (Hons) from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and a Master of Politics and Public Policy from Macquarie University. Before entering parliament, Tanya worked in the Domestic Violence Unit at the NSW Ministry for the Status and Advancement of Women. Elected to Federal Parliament as the Member for Sydney in 1998, she spoke of her conviction that ordinary people working together can achieve positive change.
Tanya lives in Sydney with her husband Michael and her three children, Anna, Joseph and Louis.
Alison Telfer - Chief Operating Officer, BlackRock Australia
Amanda is the newly appointed chief operating officer of BlackRock Australia, and also BlackRock’s general counsel. As well as her role as COO, will also take on the newly created head of public policy position. She is also a member of the BlackRock Australia board and executive committee and holds seats on the strategy, product development, funds oversight and risk controls committees.
David Matthews - Chief Executive Officer, Greater Western Sydney Giants
David Matthews was appointed CEO of the AFL’s 18th AFL club, the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS, in October 2011. Prior to joining the GIANTS he was General Manager of National and International Development at the AFL. As CEO, he has overseen the GIANTS’ entry into the AFL competition, the opening of Sydney Showground Stadium, the development of a $12 million training and administration facility at Sydney Olympic Park and three successive finals series. Under David’s direction, the GIANTS have established a host of successful commercial and community programs in both New South Wales and the ACT, including the acclaimed ‘GIANTS Care’ initiative. David is married with three children.
