Writing Boot Camps provide a conducive environment for students to work on thesis chapters, research papers or any other form of academic writing needed for the doctoral writing process. Students who have participated in Boot Camps in other universities have reported that they have helped them to focus and write in a supportive, social environment.

Note: Writing Boot Camps are intended to motivate HDR students to write regularly and do not replace the guidance their respective supervisors have given them in relation to the academic writing style of their discipline.


This Boot Camp supports your development in the Research Communication element of the MAPARC research student capability framework and the UTS Research Outcomes Capability framework.

UTS is undertaking a number of social distancing initiatives informed by NSW Health. In view of the advice that internal gatherings should be limited, we are not able to run face-to-face workshops as scheduled. Therefore, most
GRS workshops will be offered remotely as a webinar via Zoom. Meeting link and ID are provided below:

1. Follow the meeting link to enter the meeting.

2. Navigate to the UTS Zoom site. Sign in using your UTS credentials.

3. Select ‘Join a meeting’ from the top navigation menu.

4. Enter the meeting ID into the text box. Select ‘Join’.

5. You will enter the meeting when the Zoom application launches.
