Event description

For our next Circular Economy Perth event, we are going international!

We've assembled a panel of superstars who all call different parts of the world home. This month is a special collaboration with Circular Berlin, a German association and network of professionals and organizations, working together to accelerate Berlin’s transition to a 'circular' city!

We are kicking this community up a notch, and are super excited to announce Riff (powered by Spacecubed) as our new space partner and sponsor. Thanks guys! This will be our first one at Riff, Town Hall. It's going to be awesome.

Our star-studded international Presenters & Panellists include:

Each presenter will give a rapid fire presentation on their topic (5 minutes, 5 slides) followed by a panel discussion, Q&A and networking.

UK: Andrew Thomson, Circular & Systemic Designer @ Holonic

Andy will give a brief 'Circular Economy 101' for those new to the meetup and the concept. Andrew was the first cohort of students in the world to complete a Circular Economy MBA at Bradford University.

GERMANY: Nicolas Sarmiento Sierra

This month's event is thanks to Circular Berlin and Nicolas reaching
out and letting us know he was in town for a research project! Nicolas
will talk about what's happening in Germany and how he cooperates
hosting a similar community to our CE Perth meetup. Berlin is well on
it's way to becoming a 'circular' city. Looking forward to his 5 by 5!

FRANCE: Etienne Rastoin, C3 Project Lead @ Curtin University

Can Curtin Cut the Cups? Single-use plastic and disposable items like coffee cups are a wicked problem, many in WA have tried to 'solve' yet come unstuck. Etienne is determined to bring a new approach and has been working on a systemic innovation project to transition Curtin's Bentley campus to single-use coffee cup free! Looking forward to his 5 by 5!

IRELAND: Rebecca Loftus, Director EDFutures @ Fogarty Foundation

The circular economy is all about systems change. It's about creating a new economic system that works long term, for all. Rebecca loves working with complexity and is doing some pretty cool work driving systems change in the WA education system. She's a seasoned teacher, network weaver and systems change strategist. She's doing a PhD investigating the role of system weavers for systems change while working on a heap of cool projects at Fogarty. Looking forward to her 5 by 5!
