Event description

Understanding behaviour and practical strategies to support:

In Focus Family Workshop

In this session, presented by Autism SA’s Senior Behaviour Practitioner, participants will develop a greater understanding of behaviours, and behaviours of concern, in the context of autism. During the session, the presenter will guide participants through a range of relevant, realistic and evidence-based strategies that can be utilised in a range of settings, including in the home, community and education context.

This session is highly recommended for families who are accessing, or looking at accessing, Psychology or Behaviour Support from Autism SA, or who are just wanting a deeper understanding of behaviour and some practical strategies to support.

NDIS funding may be used to access these workshops. Please register online and complete all additional questions regarding your, or your child/ren’s/family members, NDIS plan.

The Autism SA team will follow up if any additional information is required.

Autism SA is pleased to announce that all workshops are being run as live online webinars in place of face to face workshops.

As each scheduled workshop approaches, registered participants will receive all the training materials required for that workshop, including a PDF of the PowerPoint. Participants will need a computer with internet access to join the webinar, but will not be required to download any software. Prior to the workshop participants will receive step-by-step instructions on how to access the webinar they have registered for.

General Family Workshops are presented in a group that aims to develop the participants’ understanding relating to the autism spectrum. Presented by experienced professionals from across different teams within the organisation, and with individuals on the autism spectrum,  participants will develop a greater understanding of many topics through interactive, engaging and practical workshops. For free sessions, participants must either be autistic or be a partner or a family member of someone on the spectrum.

In Focus Family Workshops are unique workshops presented to small groups of participants by relevant therapists, which allows for specific questions and scenarios to be discussed. Sessions focus on a specific topic and aim to develop the participants’ knowledge and understanding of that topic, and provide participants with tailored strategies that can be used, and relevant to the participants’ setting.
