Event description

Women for Election Australia - 3rd Annual Conference

Women in the House – INSPIRE & EQUIP – 23rd and 24th August 2019

Join us at NSW Parliament House for our annual INSPIRE forum on 23rd August 2019 followed by for the first time, our EQUIP workshops on Saturday, 24th August 2019 at UTS Business School.

Attend both events or pick the one that best suits your needs.

DAY 1: The INSPIRE conference which will expose you to the joys and challenges of a career in public office in Australia. It is a non-partisan program where you can network and develop working relationships with others who have similar aspirations in a political future. If you want to take the first steps towards running for public office or want to understand more about the process so you can help other women get elected, then this is the event for you.

Listen to Zali Steggall, the recently elected federal representative for Warringah and The Hon. Bronwyn Taylor, MLC, the newly appointed NSW Minister for Women, Mental Health and Regional Youth. Back by popular demand, the World Café will introduce you to elected women from all the major parties and independents who are ready to answer your questions. Through individual presentations and panel discussions, you will benefit from the diverse perspectives of journalists, campaign managers, and media and communication experts as they share their wisdom and offer savvy advice.

DAY 2: The EQUIP workshop will provide you with tools and techniques to get elected. It is tailored not only to meet the very specific challenges that women face but also the unique skills needed to run for an election or manage a campaign. We limit the number of participants in EQUIP to provide the best outcomes for attendees.

Book early to avoid disappointment. Both our previous conferences were sold out events. All tickets include lunch, morning and afternoon tea plus workshop materials (where applicable).

Students: We have a limited number of student tickets available for full-time students only. Proof of enrollment will be required to be produced on the day.

Scholarship Tickets: WFEA is dedicated to identifying and assisting a diverse range of women to access our training modules. This includes disabled women, members of the LGBTI community, indigenous women, regional women/women in remote communities and culturally and linguistically diverse women. Hence, we provide scholarship tickets for those who find it difficult to pay the full price.
