This event has passed Register

Event description

This working group will focus on 'Thermography in Industry'
(Asset Lifecycle Series)

Infrared Thermography is a non-destructive predictive maintenance method used to detect faults in electrical, mechanical and process systems, such as:

  • Electrical connections, system overloads, deteriorated insulation and other potential problems in electrical systems
  • Early stage faults in mechanical components such as engines, motors, bearings, pumps and tracks.
  • Problems within process systems such as blocked or restricted piping, sludge build up, missing refractory in vessels and product temperature control

Infrared thermography is used to find areas of excess heat so that problems can be corrected before they lead to greater issues. These can include excess power usage, increased maintenance costs, service interruptions, catastrophic equipment failure, and/or equipment damage.

Many workplaces use thermography for condition monitoring and problem solving as a matter of routine. Others may have a discrete need to call in external services for support.

Either way, a working knowledge of Thermography techniques and best practice will be of great value to your business.

This workshop will have a guest presentation from Category 3 Thermographer and Trainer Jeff Erichsen, Managing Director/Founder of Advanced Infrared Resources Australia. Jeff’s presentation will be on ‘The various uses of Thermography in Industry’ and will be available to answer any specific questions you have.

In this working group we will be openly discussing:

• What are the multitude of uses for Thermography?

• Relevant case studies

• Best practice in thermography

• The value of data gained from Thermography

There are many questions and opinions in this space, so come along and share your experiences and learn with your peers how to use thermography in your workplace.

Our events are an excellent forum for networking and engaging in 'peer to peer' learning with other members. To get the most out of the event you need to attend the event with a willingness to contribute to group discussions.
