Working Group | Ultrasonics in Predictive Maintenance (Asset Lifecycle Series)

Event description

This working group will focus on Ultrasonics in Predictive Maintenance (Asset Lifecycle Series)

The use of ultrasound inspection for maintenance and reliability managers is rapidly increasing.

In recent years, equipment has become easier to use and more versatile while implementation costs have decreased.

Once considered a companion to core predictive technologies like vibration analysis and infrared imaging, the emergence of standalone ultrasound inspection programs is more prevalent for reliability departments today.

Ultrasound is now considered a front-line defence system in the everyday battle for uptime.

One application that has evolved alongside the new generation of detectors is condition-based monitoring (CBM) of rotating and non-rotating equipment. In both instances, production machines produce frictional forces with high-frequency ultrasonic signatures.

These forces are often masked by ambient plant noise and low-frequency vibrations. Changes in these signatures serve as early indicators of failure and provide comparative information to vibration data.

For this working group in our Asset lifecycle series, we will be joined by Ian Ware CMRP, Managing Director of Ultra-Tek who will help us understand how this technology can support our goal of extending the curve.

During this working group, we will discuss:

  • An overview of Inspection Theory and Concepts
  • What is Ultrasonic testing and Why it is such a useful Inspection Technique?
  • How can we apply ultrasonic inspection within the plant facility?
  • Industry specific case histories
  • Condition Based Lubrication
  • How are you currently using Ultrasonics and what are your challenges?

There are many questions and opinions in this space, so come along and share your experiences and learn with your peers how to manage your time better.

Our events are an excellent forum for networking and engaging in 'peer to peer' learning with other members. To get the most out of the event you need to attend the event with a willingness to contribute to group discussions.

Who should attend?
IPA working groups are for anyone interested in the topic of the day and have the broadest attendance range of any of our events. This event will be well suited to Maintenance and Reliability leaders, Engineering managers and Operations managers.

As a member of IPA you can register up to 2 people, subject to availability, to attend this event. This event is for IPA members only, there will be no public access to this event.

When do I need to register by?
Registrations close 7 days prior to event date.
