Event description

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Join Community Centres SA and Volunteering SA&NT this October to develop your understanding of the vital role community centres and volunteering plays in addressing the harmful effects that social isolation has on our community at the 'Being Connected – Improving Social Isolation & Building Healthy Communities' Conference.

Social contentedness is fundamental to our survival, providing safety and security, support, a sense of belonging, and meaning and purpose.  The benefits of being socially connected are even stronger than the deficits. Being more socially connected leads to a 50% reduction in risk of early mortality for people of all ages.[i]

Connections also build organisational sustainability, which leads to partnerships that inspire, build best practice and forge new directions.

The Conference will focus on both evidence based and practical tools for those attending the conference – so if you are Manager, Community Development Officer, Volunteer Manager, CEO, volunteer, a member of a management committee/board, a representative from a government agency or involved with a non-government agency – and you have 1 opportunity for meaningful professional development – this is the Conference to be at!

We look forward to you joining us on Thursday 31st October for what will be thought provoking day where you will be able to take way information to use in your work.

Be sure to head to our 'Being Connected' web page to keep up to date with the latest information around our program lineup!
