Event description

Dear Friends, Allies and Relatives,

How we do things is as important, if not more so, as what we do. How do we set about addressing today's seemingly overwhelming cultural, social and climate injustices? What can we, as common people, do to make a difference in our relationships with each other and with our environment?

Welcome to Stories and Songs of the People Australia, a community group lead by Indigenous Elders in Australia and North America.

We invite you to share in an extraordinary opportunity to create a sacred space and contribute to the healing of relationships with ourselves, each other and the Earth.

Our Native American relatives, including Healers, performing artists, storytellers and  film makers will be here to share insights and a continuation of a journey that was brought into our shared consciousness by the historic events at Oceti Sakowin Camp, Standing Rock, 2016-2017. Many people were transformed through the intentional, compassionate, non-violent action on which the camp was based which grew from the Lakota, Dakota and Dakota way of gathering.

You will make a difference and your help matters! Join us for an exchange of experiences, cultural knowledge and practice. When you support these events you make it possible for all of us to begin the long journey to both recognising and beginning the transformation needed to heal ourselves and our planet.

In this way we also begin to change the current paradigm, from 'what we can get to what we can give'.

We ask you to consider supporting the performance on Friday the 14th February, 2020, for an evening of stories, songs and film - buy a ticket! Buy a ticket for a friend, buy a ticket even if you are unable to attend, buy a ticket for a stranger or make a direct donation.

The following day, 15th February 9:00am-4:30pm, we offer experiential practices and processes to facilitate creative collaboration to address and heal underlying causes of the ecological and spiritual crises we face together. We do not charge for our sharing of cultural experiences. There is no charge for the experiential day and we do not call this a workshop or training. This day involves cultural and educational exchanges for our collective understanding of what it means to be a 'human being'.These practices and processes allow for transformation.

All funds raised through tickets and donations go toward travel and needs for our visiting relatives, supporting others to attend and paying for venues.

We are grateful to our collaborative partner the Centre for Ecological Learning, Bellingen www.cel.org.au

If you are able to help offering skills or financial support to these events taking place in Bellingen 14th and 15th February, Mullumbimby 21st & 22nd February, Sydney , Canberra and Melbourne, please be in touch.
