Class 3: Leadership: Reimagining and Redesigning Rrevention Financing
Event description
The right level of prevention could generate cumulative economic benefits in
Australia of $10.3 billion by 2025. The cost of obesity was $11.3
billion in 2017-18 alone. In this class, we pop the hood on prevention
financing. We explore the potential roles of agencies, employers,
businesses, communities, (re)insurers, philanthropists, superfunds and
banks, as well as "unusual suspects" like airlines. What can we learn
from community finance, social impact bonds, payment-by-results and
layered investment structures? Can "preventiontech" help allocate risk
and reward associated with complex system interventions at the
population level? And how can global experience with new climate
finance, for example, show us the way?
