Join Lake Macqaurie City Council as we celebrate International Women's Day with a film screening at our picturesque Museum of Arts and Culture.
Be treated to a glass of bubbles on arrival, taste delights from our grazing table as you look over beautiful Lake Macquarie, before the main event.
Our chosen film this year is "Woman at War". This black comedy Icelandic film has been described as an "utterly engrossing tale" (Rotten Tomatoes) and film of "warmth, wit, and wisdom" (The Gaurdian), it will have you laughing, crying and thinking well after the credits stop rolling!
Halla is a fifty-year-old independent woman. But behind the scenes of a quiet routine, she leads a double life as a passionate environmental activist. Known to others only by her alias “The Woman of the Mountain,”. Halla secretly wages a one-woman-war on the local aluminium industry.
