Mates on Mats Summer Celebration Yoga event on Bondi Beach

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

At every change of season we get together to celebrate the season ahead.

Starting with meditation while listening to the ocean at the start of a new day. Then introducing movement with a beautiful yoga flow beside new and old mates. Finishing with a bit of fun, challenge yourself and try something new with our acro yoga session. We'll probably all end up in the ocean for a swim too.

We'll create shapes, network with likeminded people and share a mindful morning.

This celebration event is also part photo shoot - a set of images will be shared with everyone to use on their socials.

This event is created to bring the community together, raise awareness of mental health and to raise money for The Wayside Chapel.

Come along with your mates or come along to meet some new mates.

Mates on Mats runs monthly so you'll have a regular catch up with this group.

Other activities you can get involved in: Yoga Retreats, Mermaid adventures, Pop up Yoga in Cool places.

All welcome - #communityovercompetition

ABOUT OUR TEACHERS

Meditation with Chibs

I am an accredited Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher on a mission. A mission to improve the mental health and wellbeing of everyday Australians living in a stressful world that can often feel overwhelming.

Why am I on this mission? First of all, when I help others, it makes me feel good. Secondly, when I am compassionate to others, I treat myself more kindly. Also, each time I help my clients overcome their mental health and wellbeing challenges, the more insight I get into my own. It’s good for me, and it’s good for the world.

I use techniques that are straightforward, relatable and scientifically-backed, to take individuals and organisations from stressed and overwhelmed, to relaxed and focused.

Yoga with Darrin

I’ve been practicing yoga on and off since my 20’s and to celebrate me turning 50 this year I decided to go to India to do a 28 day yoga teacher training retreat. Life changing experience is an understatement being emerged in the full practice of yoga (asanas, pranayama, meditation and philosophy) for 28 days was simply amazing. Yoga compliments my marathon running and does so much more for my mental health. As my teacher in India said ‘there is no teacher and student in yoga just sharing and learning’.

Acro Yoga with Valerie

Yoga teacher and acro lover. Nature & adventure seeker.

I’m all about challenging myself while respecting my limits, I find this daily in my practice of yoga and meditation. Most of all, acro yoga is a vehicle for me to connect with people, build relationship, conquer fears and keep fit while having fun. It thrills me to share my passion for yoga with all who are willing to learn and enjoy the journey. Love meeting like-minded people. I strive to inspire and motivate others to help them make positive change in their lives.

During this class we will explore the basics of acro yoga. This is all about having fun while discovering something new. Reconnecting with the inner child: trying, falling (we won’t actually fall) and trying again.  Develop your teamwork skills, meet and get comfortable with new people, improve your ability to communicate & your trust towards other people. No partner needed, all levels welcome.
