This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Spring is just around the corner, and now is the time to set yourself up for success with your garden.

There are groups of vegetables that comprise the spring/summer veggie garden. Each needs different soil preparation and pH, some are planted from seedlings and some direct, and they have different watering requirements. This workshop will cover soil preparation which is a key to success, demonstrate how to test and rectify pH problems and give tips for the successful growing of each family of spring/summer vegetables.

The workshop will be led  by Robin and Paul Gale-Baker. Robin is a cofounder of Sustainable Macleod and the Macleod Organic Community Garden. She also founded the first herb nursery in Tasmania, running it for 10 years. Robin is currently Victorian Senior of the Year 2018, for Active and Healthy Living. Paul is president and cofounder of Sustainable Macleod, a lifelong edible gardener and a builder of wicking beds.

This workshop is part of the Sustainable Living series of workshops put on by Transition 3081, which promotes sustainable living in the 3081 postcode. It's made possible, thanks to support from the Banyule Council Environment Sustainability Grant.

Refreshments will be provided. Please let us know your special dietary requirements upon booking. Looking forward to seeing you.

Your ticket to this event includes 2 pots of tomatoes or cucumbers, zucchinis, pumpkins or herbs depending on what we have left.
