Suitable for first or second year HDR students. 

Prerequisite: completed Course 1Foundational Issues in Qualitative Research

This course comprises a series of seminars, each covering a strategy of inquiry. The seminars present an overview of the nature and uniqueness of each design strategy. Students will go through some examples and discuss how the strategy could be considered for their research problem.

  • Day 1: Ethnographic Research
  • Day 2: Narrative Inquiry
  • Day 3: Phenomenological Research
  • Day 4: Case Study Research

No Completion Certificate. Students can register for any or all seminars.

This workshop supports your development in the Research Skills and Knowledge element of the MAPARC research student capability framework and the Research Lifecycle element of the UTS Research Outcomes Capability framework.

Is there a sign in sheet on arrival?

Yes. Please ensure that you sign the registration sheet on arrival.

What if I can no longer attend, do I need to cancel?

Yes. Please contact the Researcher Development team at grs_rd@uts.edu.au for workshop cancellation.

If you fail to cancel your registration and are absent three or more times in a session, you will be suspended from the program for 1 year. You will be notified by email prior to your suspension being applied.

How will I know the location for this event if it is not confirmed yet?

You will be sent a reminder email approximately one week prior to the workshop. This will include the workshops location, date, time and anything you may need to know prior to the workshop.
