Speaker Series @ The Studio: Equal Digital Life - How ABC NEWS integrated broadcast news and the digital world

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

When Gaven Morris was appointed Director of ABC NEWS in October 2015 he took on a critical task: ensuring Australia’s best and most trusted broadcast journalism was also achieving its full potential with the rapidly growing online audience.

  • How can a Four Corners investigation reach someone who only gets their news from Facebook?
  • What to do about the dwindling audiences for nightly TV news bulletins?
  • Where will listeners turn as fewer people buy radio sets?

Gaven will step through how he and the News leadership team set about leading the major cultural, operational and structural changes required, under the umbrella of a three-year strategy titled “Equal Digital Life”.

With the three years nearly up, the Equal Digital Life strategy has delivered on every target, with ABC NEWS now Australia’s No 1 domestic digital news brand for audience engagement and No 2 overall.

Along the way it faced challenges every organisation must grapple with to achieve an ambitious transformation agenda.
