Event description

A Special Event

Women’s Advocacy is an essential component of men’s domestic and family violence intervention programs. It is a distinct and specialised role within the DFV sector, and presents unique challenges and rewards.

This first ever full day professional development event for Women’s Advocates has been designed and developed by advocates for advocates, to meet the diverse professional development needs of workers in this specialist role.

It will be a day of connection, support, reflection, practice development and sharing of information and practice wisdom in a tranquil setting at the foothills of Mt Coot-tha.

And we're proud to say that this is the first event of it's kind in Australia!

Catering: Morning and Afternoon Tea and Lunch are included.

Venue: Mercy Place is a tranquil venue located in the foothills of Mt Cootha, backing onto bushland and overlooking Brisbane. It's a lovely place that we have returned to for SPEAQ professional development events several times.

Accommodation: Simple, pleasant accommodation is available on-site and can be purchased with your registration, on this website. Please note however you will need to arrive before 5 pm on the Thursday. The fee includes a continental breakfast. For dinner there are many nearby restaurants in Bardon, Rosalie and Paddington. Check out the Mercy Place website for more info but please note you will need to book through this registration page, not directly with the venue.

The closest hotel accommodation is available in Milton, Toowong or the CBD.

Getting there: Bardon is an inner West suburb of Brisbane. Parking is available on-site at Mercy Place at the top of the entrance road. Off-site accommodation is a relatively short taxi/rideshare away. The 375 bus stops close to the venue -  visit the translink site to plan your journey.
