The Grove's Dojo #6; Livelihood with meaning and purpose - it's all of our business

We welcome you to join us at The Grove for Dojo #6 where we will explore 'Livelihood with meaning and purpose - it’s all of our business'

Amidst collapsing systems, many more of us are pursuing purposeful work to make a difference in the world. Yet through the lens of the two loops model* (the old world, the transition and the emerging world), we see that the majority of paid work occurs in upholding the status quo of the existing world. Thus it can be challenging to generate livelihood whilst pursuing meaningful work and expressing our creativity, compassion and courage. And instead of seeing this as an individual struggle, we should be recognising this as a collective dilemma because we need all of our gifts and deep collaboration. 

In this ‘place of practice’ we will explore through experiences and generative dialogue the following questions;

1. What is your understanding and lived experience of livelihood?
2. Why should we have to struggle with livelihood to do good things in the world?
3. What would the world be if people could work freely for the common good without a struggle for their own livelihood?
4. What is emerging in relation to livelihood for those involved in purposeful work at both the collective and individual level?

More about the Grove's Dojo

The Dojo is 'a house of practice, a place for pursuit of the Way'. A place where The Grove, a community of practitioners, change agents, innovators, intrapreneurs, leaders and active members of civil society, meets to learn through practice. 

Learning new ways of being and doing is increasingly vital as we seek to meet the challenges of today, and co-create the emerging future. A distinct feature of The Grove’s Dojo is our intention to learn by doing, in a supportive environment with others.  We can then move into other places, where we do our work within organisations, groups and communities better equipped to bring new possibilities and potentialities into being.
