Designing climate policy for Australia - Dr Martin Parkinson AC in conversation with Marian Wilkinson
Date and Time
This is a special opportunity to hear the most senior Australian public servant charged with climate policy, talk candidly about pitfalls and the opportunities, making this event a highly valuable occasion to learn about public policy in an acutely difficult area, alongside the Hon. Bob Carr and former Four Corners reporter and Fairfax feature writer, Marian Wilkinson.
Dr Martin Parkinson AC, former Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, said this year that Australians will continue to suffer high power prices because of the failure to impose an economy-wide carbon price on emissions.
Dr Parkinson served as secretary of the Department of Climate Change December 2007 to March 2010 and Secretary of Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency 2010 to 2011; then, from 2010 to 2014 as Secretary of the Department of Treasury becoming Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet in 2016.
